Thanks Pinterest: I <3 U Pop-up

A Valentine for my hubby is the inspiration for JBILU post #3.  Although I used this card for Valentines day, it could be used for any occassion to say I Love You.  However, I will caution you this was not easy and I don’t love the result…

Loved

  • It is the thought that counts, right?  I hope so because this wasn’t the prettiest card that I have ever made.  I do like the front with three hearts (cut from paint chips) and a lined envelope similar to JBILU Post #2.

Learned

  • Not easy, or quick.  This looks simple enough, and I’m pretty crafty so was surprised how tricky it was!  My primary issues was not using the correct supplies or giving myself enough time.  Trying to keep your eye on a 1 year old who is into everything while doing this card is NOT recommended.
  • Don’t cut the pop-up out of a folded card.  I thought I was being smart by using pre-folded card stock for the inside, but it was not ideal because the fold was in the wrong spot once the letters were cut.  Use flat card stock and fold after cutting.
  • Sharp craft knife is key.  I used scissors as a knife – this is not recommended!  A sharp craft knife on a sturdy cutting board would be the ideal.

Thnx

  • Somebody? I don’t know the original source of this idea, the closest I’ve come to tracking down the original source is an etsy store.  I would love to give the correct credit and have spent time searching on bing and google but can’t find the original source.
  • Thanks @PaigesOfStyle for the amazing envelope liner tutorial and beautiful blog, I hope to always have enough time to line my envelops!
  • As always, Thanks Pinterest for all the inspiring ideas. Not on Pinterest? Send me an e-mail thnxpinterest@hotmail.com and I’ll send you an invite (if you sign up for an invite on the site it will take a while). Pinterest for the inspiration

  1. You are so clever! I love it when I see people actually making things they have pinned.

If you have a moment to spare I would be thrilled if you could pop by my blog and link up Pinterest inspired post to my weekly Pinterest Linky Party!

  2. I made that card for my husband for Valentine’s day too! I thought it would take me maximum half an hour. Two hours later, I finally stumbled into bed 😉 I did red on the outside with just his name written in pen, and orange on the inside. I think the cardstock I used on the inside was a bit too thick because it doesn’t like to stay closed. Your version is adorable, and I love the lined envelope!
